Get out of your corona cabin and get productive!!
We have been living in this “sci-fi movie” where we have to stay home in order to be safe and protect both our family and ourselves. We all have so much free time now and some of us don’t even know what do. We try to look for things that makes us efficient, productive, however it is easier said than done. However, it is very difficult to be productive when we get caught by social media and our favorite show on Netflix.
Can you stop for a moment and think about yourself. When have you had this much time to spend it on yourself. Focus on actually doing what you love and little by little you will be in a better position than many other people (who are just complaining about this situation). Take advantage and immerse yourself. Always remember: CURIOUS mind, STRONG body, CLEAN skin, HEALTHY gut, JOYFUL soul, BIG smile and SIMPLE living.
GET COZY AND READ A GREAT BOOK
Reading gets us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. Get a cozy blanket, make yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea and begin to read. I turn on Spotify and put some relaxing music in order to get the vibes in my room ready to begin my reading session. I usually listen to this playlist, which creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I have created a list of 8 of my favorite books that allow me to dream with my eyes open. These books have inspired me to create new things and to be the person I want to be. 8 MUST READ books: Hooked by Nir Eyal: This book is eyeopening. It makes us aware of how we are addicted/hooked to having more “likes” or more social media “friends”. Nudge by Richard H. Thalers & Cass R.Sunstein: Nudge shows you how you can, unconsciously, make better decisions (eat healthier, exercise more frequently, save money) by changing your environment to guide you in the right direction. Presence by Amy Cudy: This is a great personal development book that gives you tips to become more powerful and confident so whenever you have a job interview, a professional event you make the right impression to yourself and to others. All the light you cannot see by Anthony Doerr: This novel is inspired by the horrors of the World War II. It makes you connect to the characters like no other book. It uses humor, sadness, joy, a strong voice that makes you feel all kinds of emotions. The power of habit by Charles Duhigg: Have you ever tried to stop smoking? Have you succeeded? I’ll answer that for you. It is very unlikely that you did manage. If you have, congratulations, if you haven’t, this book is for you. Why do we do what we do and how to change. The key to changing habits is to understand how they work, if you can diagnosed the habit you can change it in any way you like. Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari: This is an absolute must read. The book goes back in history to teach us where do we come from and what it means to be human. He looks at how empowered humans began created what we now call the world. Factfulness by Hans Rosling: Ten reasons we’re wrong about the world- and why things are better than you think. Social media is disrupting the way we see the world. The world is full of problems, but there MANY, MANY good things that we just don’t pay attention to. This book teaches us how to separate fiction from reality when forming our opinions. The subtle art of not giving a f*ck by Mark Manson: This self-growth book gives a different approach to living a good life. This book has helped me a lot as I consider myself a perfec
tionist and I learned that it’s not always good to force yourself to be “the best” in everything you do. What you think of yourself if far more important than what others think of you.
2. WATCH A DOCUMENTARY SERIES ON NETFLIX
Although it is a great time to be productive and get yourself active, it is not always easy and I know it from experience. Sometimes the only thing you want to do is stay in bed a watch an interesting thing on Netflix. These documentaries allow you to learn while laying in bed… nice, right? :)
BEST docu-series on Netflix:
Minimalism: A Documentary about the Important Things
Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret
TheHomeEdit: Get Organized
3. GET CREATIVE AND ORGANIZE YOUR HOME

A good system shortens the road to the goal!!
I have recently watched TheHomeEdit on Netflix and it got me inspired. TheHomeEdit is a company created by two inspired women Clea and Joanna, who want to reinvent the traditional way of organizing, to a more trendy interior styling. The main goal is that each project has a functional system that will work for the long term.
I started implementing these ideas into my life in order to make my daily routine easier and faster.
Tips for organizing beauty daily products. TheHomeEdit has created a mini-project section where it guides you step by step on how to make the best use of your bathroom to both look good and organized. This website also has a shop where you can buy the essential containers to store your beauty products.

If you’re still adjusting to the new normality of working at home, TheHomeEdit has the solution. They have also created a mini-project home office organization blog where it takes you step by step towards creating a minimalistic, organized station. I have actually done this project and it has helped me a lot focus, I even wanted to get to work in order to use all of my new supplies which I bought at this same website.

When a closet is organized, everything is much easier to find. Arrange your clothes by type (sweaters, jeans, handbags, shoes) and then color coordinate to give it a smooth and assembled look.
TheHomeEdit takes us to Emma Robert’s closet and let’s us shop the look of her wardrobe, from purse hangers, to matching hangers, to custom drawers and shelves.

4. Stay fit and motivated

Remember, any exercise is better than no exercise!! Exercise itself is hard and requires constancy, specially during this pandemic where most of the gyms are closed. It is important to keep moving your body, even if it just for 10 minutes. Exercise boots your mood and gets you ready for a productive day. The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen, so turn on youtubeI have gathered the two best Youtube Channels for you to stay fit. These workouts do not require any equipment. They are different categories, made for everyone, from beginners to professionals, to the ones who want to focus on abs, booty, legs, arms, or upper body.
Pamela Reif: I love her FULL BODY and ABS workout. She has videos ranging from 5 minutes to 10 minutes even 20, made for everyone.
Sami Clarke: Home workouts video + healthy lifestyle
5. Go a step further and take a short free online course
Don’t tell people your plans, show them your results!!
When have you wanted to develop a new skill but never could because you “didn’t have time” for it. Well, now there are no excuses. These short online courses can help you become an expert in the field of your choice, being psychology, health, data science or any field.
Coursera:
Coursera is an online platform that have free online courses from top universities like Yale, Stanford, University of Michigan, London Business School and many more. There are courses in many different languages and a variety of fields to specialize on.
My FAVORITE online courses:
The Science of Well-Being by Yale University: In this course you will learn to love yourself more, to increase your happiness and develop better, productive habits in the long term.
Learning How To Learn- Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects by McMaster University: Specialist coming from fields such as music, literature, sports, maths and music give you an insight on essential learning techniques.
Python for Everybody by University of Michigan: Data science is increasing at a faster rate and we have to catch up. Many companies look for data scientist that know how to program and analyze a set of codes. This gives you a great easy start to understand the basic of programming with Python, and little by little become better in this field in demand.
This situation is hard on everyone, but we have to turn the bad into a good experience. I know from experience that it is hard to push yourself to your maximum everyday. Don’t try to give 100% each day. Go day by day trying new things and feeling better about yourself. Start with a new book, then next day a 10 minute workout, then in the weekend organize your room, and you will see how each day that goes by it becomes easier.
Have fun trying these new activities and take care. 1 month from now you will thank yourself!! Take care!!
XoXo
