Getting in shape and staying healthy was difficult back before this pandemic, so imagine how hard it is now. With all of the things going on around us, it is difficult to focus on eating healthier or staying in shape. However, this has many advantages which can benefits us, specially in times of Covid-19:
better mood
reduced stress
increased confidence
boost self-esteem
We have all tried a diet or failed to attend the gym, because, yes, it is difficult, and there are much more fun things we would all be doing, but who said that stay healthy was difficult? Don't force yourself to be perfect, to commit to everything you have planned, instead go step by step, take it slow, seek for motivation and stay positive. Here are my 4 tips to maintaining a healthy lifestyle:
Meal prepping
Having to cook a healthy meal takes time and we usually don't have time to waist, specially in weekdays with zoom meetings all over. Prep your meals beforehand so that every day, instead of grabbing a snack or make yourself a sandwich, you have a perfectly well-balanced meal ready to eat in your fridge.
Here is a video from Refinery29 to give you an idea of what you could do. The food she prepares is just one of the million options you could opt for. In here she prepares meals for 5 days, breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and desert.
Or check out LifeSum and go get ideas for your next meals- an app that creates "Personalized diet plans, nutrition advice & healthy recipes. Lose weight the healthy way with nutritious food in the right portion sizes."
Place healthy food at first sight
Grabbing a snack in the middle of the day can go two ways: grabbing the cookie in the counter right as you walk through the kitchen or that apple that is hidden in the fridge. Replace your healthy foo d at first sight, because the probabilities are higher that you are going to grab a piece of fruit or a granola bar if they are closer to you.

Find a workout plan and stick with it
Who said you can't workout at home? It's even better, because 1. it's free and 2. you don't have to be around sweaty people. There are a range of workout videos in YouTube which can help you to find the best according to what you are looking for. There a HIIT, cardio, abs, arms workout as well as yoga or pilates. Create your gym at home.
My favorites and the ones I have been using the most are:
Pamela Reif: she does all kinds of videos, but my favorites are abs and HIIT workout videos
Sami Clarke: she has workout videos as well as eating diaries where you can get ideas for your meal plan
Heather Robertson: she does videos with and without equipment. If you have and want to try, she has good workouts videos with weights
If you want to be on the next level... try Chloe Ting's 2 Week Shred Challenge - Get ABS IN 2 WEEKS?!

Reward yourself
Eating healthy and staying in shape doesn't mean getting your weekly veggie smoothies and hitting "your workout space" every day for 4 hours. Give yourself rewards every step of the way. For example, you have managed to do at least 2 days of workout time, have yourself a cheat day where you can eat whatever you want. This is not about becoming the fittest in 1 day, but about learning to take care of your body and yourself.
Here are the 4 tips I would recommend for you guys to try out. Leave me a comment if you have decided to start doing "meal prepping" or if you have gone to the next level and done the Chloe Ting's 2 week shred challenge.
Remember: Eat healthy, feel healthy. Eat bad, feel bad.
Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live
